    The pool may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent (indeterminate) or temporary basis (specified period or casual employment).

    IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE CONCRETE EXAMPLES THAT ILLUSTRATE HOW, WHERE, AND WHEN YOU MEET THE ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS.

    Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
    Experience operating heavy equipment (such as Agricultural tractor, plow truck or loader).
    Experience doing maintenance and repairs.
    Experience operating tools and performing maintenance of equipment.
    Experience using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel or Outlook.
    Ability to communicate in writing.


    ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
    Experience operating snow removal heavy equipment during winter operations (such as plow truck or hydraulic snow blower)
    Experience in bird and wildlife control methods, techniques and procedures used at Airports.
    Experience operating in an airport environment.
    Willing and able to acquire and maintain a valid Firearms Acquisition Certificate within 6 months of appointment.

    Common to all Airports:
    Willingness and ability to work overtime, variable hours and weekends.
    Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
    Pre-Placement Medical is required in relation to use of Heavy Equipment Operator.

    Willing and able to obtain and maintain a Class 3 Driver's License with Air Brake endorsement (within 6 months of start date).

    Specific to Port Hardy and Sandspit airport:
    Pre-placement medical is required for positions located in a designated Isolated Post.

    In assessing candidates, assessment boards may use a variety of tools and methods including, but not limited to, reviews of past performance and accomplishments, written tests, interviews, PSC tests and reference checks.

    however, a person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs.

    Meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Please note that assets may be used at the screening stage.

    Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process.

    Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process.
    A cut-off score may also be used at any stage of assessment.

    Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
