Job Description:


AECOM GTA is currently seeking a Senior Communications and Control Systems Engineer with specialized skills in Railway Systems, to join our Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance Team in Ontario and work with a multidisciplinary team delivering an existing and future portfolio of projects.


Essential Criteria:
Proven Communications and Control experience within the Railway Sector.


High competency working with and understanding all Railway Systems systems and subsystems involved in designing and delivering Light and Heavy Rail infrastructure and Integrated Systems.

Extensive understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including V&V, Systems Architecture, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Interface Managements.


Experience in conducting, witnessing, and reviewing Testing and Commission Plans, Test Procedures, and Site Acceptance Testing related to the Communications and Control Systems and their interfaces.


Able to work with and understand Requirements Management tools such as DOORS NG and ComplyPro to input, review, and audit verification and validation evidence associated with his field of expertise.

Able to work with minimum supervision and manage a team of mid-level or junior engineers and/or third-party engineering contractors.
Able to work on more than one task/project at the same time.
Able to support in the preparation of bids and proposals.
Able to learn new skills and understand new standards with mínimal guidance.

Expert or have sufficient understand of the following Communications and Control subsystems:1- Voice and Data Radio System;
2- SCADA System;
3- Wifi System (in stations, on-board, in tunnels, passenger Wifi)

4- Fare Collection System;
5- Guideway Intrusion Detection System;
6- Backbone Communication Network;
7- Telephone, Intercom, and Data Network;
8- Passenger Visual Information System;
9- CCTV System;
10- Public Address System;
11- Emergency Trip System;
12- Central Alarm Monitoring System;
13- Master Clock System;
14- Intrusion Access Control System;
15- Interfaces and Integration requirements between the SCADA and all other Systems;
16- Operation Control Center layout and ergonomics;
17- Human Factors including SCADA workstation layouts and alarm severities;
18- EMC/EMI as it related to the Communication and Control infrastructure

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Act as the Client Representative or Technical Advisor on all Communication and Control matters on Railway Projects.

Review and provide comments on Contractor submittals related to the above sub-systems.

Review and assess variation orders, change requests, and value engineering exercises related to his filed and scope.

Identify and resolve interface issues between the CCS and external systems.


Review identified CCS hazards and their mitigations in the design or through the hazard export to operator, maintainer, or other third parties.
