The General Maintenance Helper/Painter is located in Toronto, ON and typically reports directly to the Facility Manager or Senior Project Manager.

Their primary focus is general maintenance labour, including industrial painting.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Prepare surfaces meticulously for painting, ensuring optimal finish through cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as needed.
  • Uphold safety and quality standards including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling of hazardous materials, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain and upkeep painting equipment including spray guns, brushes, rollers, and paint pots, to ensure functionality and durability.
  • Comply with environmental regulations and practices for paint disposal, emissions control, and pollution prevention.
  • Keep records of paint usage, surface preparation, and painting activities, reporting any issues or problems to management.
  • Work with the Facility Manager or Senior Project Manager to schedule work efficiently for the client.
  • Perform maintenance tasks, including wall, floor, and ceiling repairs.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment, tools, and facilities, identifying hazards, meeting regulatory compliance, and mitigating risks.
  • Keep track of supplies, materials, and equipment essential for painting and maintenance tasks, promptly notifying supervisors of low stock levels.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills or leaks, following procedures for reporting and resolution.
  • Mentor and train others in performing general handyman repairs.
  • Reviewing work requests, predicting workloads, coordinating tools and materials, and processing timesheets.
  • Identify and address safety risks collaboratively within the team.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 510 years in general repairs, industrial or commercial painting experience required

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid Ontario "G" Driver's License is required
