About the role

We're looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join our growing Personal Lines Team

Work Location:
Any of our offices in GTA, London, Ottawa, Edmonton, Dartmouth, Halifax, St. John's, and New Brunswick offices.


You will be assigned to work in the Personal Lines Department and exploring the exciting underwriting world of the Property and Casualty insurance industry.

In this 6-month opportunity as an Underwriting Assistant, you will have an impact in our Personal Lines Department.

People will count on you to deliver Intact's legendary service by analyzing, selecting and processing requests from customers and brokers to contribute to a profitable portfolio of business.


What you'll do here:


  • Prepare existing and new business files and input into our systems
  • Handle less complex insurance policy renewals, endorsements and cancellations
  • Review all Personal Lines underwriting requests and establish required action based on authority level
  • Maintain consistent highquality service by supporting the team's Service Level Agreements
  • Identify and assign incoming inquiries to appropriate individuals
  • Assist Underwriters with processing for large complex policies

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, or a combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Insurance experience is an asset
  • Computer proficient with the ability to navigate through multiple systems
  • Masterful data entry skills and high attention to detail
  • Adaptable and flexible with the ability to prioritize work and thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with a positive, cando attitude
