Position Summary:

We are excited to grow our team with a full-time role for an
IT Specialist Reporting to the Director of D&PS, the IT Specialist is primarily responsible for the coordination, control, testing, maintenance, and support of Binary Stream's infrastructure systems.

This includes ownership of Binary Stream's internal network, maintaining the Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, and monitoring of cyber security.

The IT Specialist will also troubleshoot technical issues brought forward by Binary Stream employees and coordinate with third parties when necessary.

A Typical day as an IT Specialist:

Utilize cyber defense tools for monitoring and analysis of Binary Stream's system activity.
Administer the use of core infrastructure systems such as LANs, WANs, Microsoft Outlook, and computer workstations.
Coordinate with third parties to ensure:
Network ownership is up to date,
Security patches are applied in a timely manner.
Provide guidance and support as needed to Binary Stream employees which includes:
Recording, analyzing/troubleshooting and prioritizing issues as they come in,
Resolving problems independently and/or distributing to the appropriate parties (IT Service Provider).
Work alongside the Office Coordinator to implement an IT inventory system.
Manage workstation setup and deployment for new Binary Stream employees which includes setup of position specific hardware and software.
Collect data from cyber defense tools to mitigate threats to Binary Stream's technical environment.
Will grow into taking the lead on developing solutions to meet Binary Stream's network requirements.
Will gain the knowledge to start designing and implementing network solutions based on cloud platform capabilities.

Technical Skills and other Requirements:

Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure).
Strong analytical problem solving and time management skills.
Experience configuring, maintaining, and administering network switches, firewalls, and SANs.
Operational understanding of various IT systems.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience with a virtualized environment (i.e., Microsoft Hyper-V), and core networking concepts.
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure such as provisions, security, controlling costs, and centralizing & managing subscriptions.
Experience with system installations, configurations, patching, and troubleshooting.
Microsoft Azure certification are an asset.
CompTIA certifications are an asset.
Experience working in an agile fastpaced environment.
Experience with IT administration and support is an asset.
Experience managing and leading projects is considered an asset.
