COORDINATOR, MAJOR CAPITAL PROJECTS
The incumbent provides support to the facilities major projects team by coordinating project
management functions and construction administration documents pertaining to a broad range of

facilities-based capital construction projects. The position will be involved in the full scope of capital
projects including preliminary budget planning; defining detailed scopes of work; procuring required
consulting and construction services; coordination through design and construction; and performing
project and contract administration work up to and including final hand-off to operations staff. This

position will primarily be tasked with providing direct support to project managers in the major projects
team as assigned by the Division Head, Operations Services.


Successful applicants will possess the following:

  • Successful completion of a University Degree in a related field.
  • Membership in the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), Ontario Association of Certified
Engineering Technicians and Technologists, or Certified Engineering Technologist Certification
would be an asset.

  • Five years of combined, recent and relevant experience in the fields of general building
construction, building science and/or project management.

  • Proven competence and technical knowledge of various trades and systems involved with building
construction (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical), building technologies and
related infrastructure. Awareness of sustainable practices and technologies is an asset.

  • Must have established skills and experience using PC equipment and related software
Adobe Photoshop, etc.) is an asset.

  • Welldeveloped organizational, analytical, customer service and communication (written and oral)
skills.

  • Welldeveloped conflict resolution, interpersonal and influencing skills to establish and maintain
business relationships with consultants, contractors, the general public and employees at all levels
of government.

  • Proven ability to work independently and reliably on assigned duties, prioritizing activities,
managing time and effectively resolving problems.

  • Proven competence and technical knowledge of various trades and systems involved with
construction, building technologies and related parks infrastructure. Awareness of sustainable
practices and technologies is an asset

  • Proven ability to provide direction to outside consultants and contractors.
  • Indepth knowledge of industry standard means, methods, materials and equipment employed in
construction, including demonstrable ability to interpret technical plans.

  • Able to analyze construction budgets and estimates.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, AODA, standard CCDC construction
documents, standard consulting contracts, applicable laws and regulations, and construction
contract administration.

  • Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must be willing to participate in, Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification, defensive driving
training and any other pertinent training when offered by the Corporation.

  • Good interpersonal, leadership, decision making, organizational, communication (written and oral
in English) and customer service skills.

  • Must be able to read, understand and clearly communicate written and oral instructions in English.
  • Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
  • During employment there may be the requirement to drive a municipal vehicle, as such consent to
obtain a driver's abstract from the Ministry of Transportation is mandatory. Must possess a valid
Class "G" Ontario Drivers licence. A clean driving record is preferred.

Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, and a salary starting at
$43.83/hr. - $48.70/hr. (effective April 1, 2024) based on 35 hours per week.
