Role Summary


The Facilitator works effectively, as an integral part of the Job Search and Retention team, developing curriculum and providing group and one-on-one facilitation to Clients on a wide variety of meaningful employment-related topics; specifically as it relates to Competency-based training which, as outlined in the WorkBC Employment Services Program, is designed to support eligible clients in their practical ability to learn and improve upon the knowledge and skills they will need to prepare for, attain and retain employment.

This role also includes active and comprehensive involvement in the area of Cohort Programming.

Ensuring a strong and ongoing connection with Clients and the full WorkBC Centre team, the Facilitator will ensure that curriculum is delivered consistently, professionally and effectively to in order to meet the needs of the Clients, as well as the desired learning objectives and WorkBC Employment Services program required outcomes.


Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development

Effectively develop and target meaningful curriculum to meet current and changing Client, labour market and Employer needs; ensuring both accessibility and relevance to all groups, and the consistent attainment of outcomes and objectives as required in the WorkBC Employment Services Program, by:

  • Maintaining knowledge of current employability issues and tailoring seminars and workshops to reflect these issues, thus supporting the ability to reach identified WorkBC Employment Services program outcome targets.
  • Developing various shortterm certificate and Essential Skills courses as required based on the needs of the Client and/or identified Client Inclusion Groups.
  • Regularly updating workshop/seminar curriculum and lesson plans to ensure continued relevance amidst changes in labour market and Client population trends.
  • Establishing and publishing workshop schedules in a timely and consistent manner; distributing to team members, Clients and Approved Subcontractors, as required and necessary.
  • Proactively contributing to the marketing material relating to workshops available within the WorkBC Centre, and as appropriate and applicable as it relates to virtual and outreach sources as well.
  • Arranging appropriate and engaging guest speakers and special guests for relevant workshop topics.
  • Working closely with organizations that have closed or downsized, to deliver onsite introductory workshops focused on resumes, cover letters, and other appropriate topics; specifically designed for Employees of the impacted business.
  • Ensuring the consistent ongoing engagement of Clients with relevant and practical information, activities, audiovisual materials, appropriate worksheets, exercises and practical discussions, in support of accomplishing desired learning outcomes; with a practical knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the different learning styles of the participants
Facilitation

Working with the Job Search and Sustainment team to support Clients in the facilitation of employment-related workshops primarily in the WorkBC Centre, but also through various virtual and outreach sources as may be required, to ensure that delivery and content consistently meets the Client needs and required outcomes and objectives of the WorkBC Employment Services Program, by:

  • Facilitating applicable employability workshops to Community agencies, that are open to both Clients and the general public, as part of the MCES Community Engagement Plan
  • Facilitating various shortterm certificate and Essential Skills courses as required based on the needs of the Client and/or identified Client Inclusion Groups
  • Providing Clients, as required and appropriate, with information on community resources or services that will support the optimization of their financial resources upon commencing employment
  • Providing ongoing oneonone and group communications and support regarding job search tools and strategies, and general employability skills, all in support of the attainment of required Job Retention outcomes
  • Arranging employer forums with local Employers in collaboration with the Community Engagement Manager, as part of the execution of the MCES Service and Awareness Plan
  • Consistently creating and maintaining a healthy and productive learning environment for all audiences
  • Ensuring proper setup and post workshop cleanup of utilized space(s)
  • Setting clear and consistent classroom expectations for all participants, including the safety information required in case of an emergency
  • Maintaining accurate and timely attendance statistics and completing reporting of information as required
