We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to support our Real Property Planning and Management Branch. The Maintenance Technician would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


This position will appeal to someone who enjoys working in a team environment with constantly changing priorities and new challenges daily.

This position will be ideal for a self-starter who can also work alone.

The successful incumbent should be someone who is open to learning and can provide their own input and ideas to benefit the workplace.


Other duties include; performing routine tasks to maintain the physical plant and keeping the site looking well kept, presentable and safe.

He/she will have good communication skills in order to work from manuals, drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.

In addition, the incumbent will also undertake other related duties as needed, such as but not limited to:

set ups and tear downs for events, updating lighting at various heights, changing ceiling tiles, assisting with shipping and receiving duties, grounds keeping, snow clearing, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and other associated duties.


Screening Criteria:


Education:

High school diploma, according to provincial standards.


ASSETS:


  • Maintenance or trade certification or training, including apprenticeship.
  • Building Operator certification.

Experience:


  • Significant experience in an industrial or commercial maintenance environment.
  • Significant experience with maintaining and troubleshooting equipment such as: pumps, motors, fan coil units, air handling units, building automation system and security systems.
  • Experience in shipping/receiving, verifying accuracy of shipments and inventory control.
  • Significant experience with PPE, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Significant experience working at heights.
  • Basic experience with MS office such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Basic a few months and up to 2 years
  • Significant 2 to 6 years

Must possess and be able to retain the physical capabilities to perform the position including the ability to handle heavy and bulky objects up to 45lbs, to crouch, bend, twist, walk, climb stairs & ladders, ability to hear to diagnose mechanical troubles.

Competency Profile(s):


Relocation:

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.


Compensation:

From $52,407 to $56,069 per annum.
