Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of Canada's premier health-education institutions and has been internationally recognized among the world's top 50 medical schools.

The Department of Critical Care Medicine, within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is a growing research and education-focused Department, currently consisting of 7 Full-Time and 6 Special-Continuing Academic Faculty and over 60 Clinical Faculty, across two teaching and three community Alberta Health Services' operated hospitals (covering ~ 127 adult ICU beds in 8 ICUs) in the city of Edmonton.

The Department has a fully accredited Royal College training program in Critical Care Medicine and overseas the ICU training of numerous rotating specialist programs.

Research in the Department spans a wide spectrum from basic science and translational work through health services research and clinical trials across all aspects of the practice of Critical Care Medicine.
