About the Role


Global BC is looking for an experienced Community Relations Coordinator (Maternity Leave) for a temporary maternity leave contract to join the #1 television station - Global BC - in Western Canada.

Reporting to Regional Senior Marketing & Promotions Manager, TV & AM Radio and collaborating with the current Community Relations Coordinator, this temporary full-time position is responsible for the extensive planning and execution of high profile sponsorships and partnerships campaigns, managing special events and staff functions, and liaising with high profile community clients as related to the Global News brand in BC.

This is a Group 3 position in the current collective agreement.


You will be working on things like:

  • Planning, creating and executing sponsorships with community, sales and charity clients
  • Supervising short and longterm integrated campaigns that include on aircreative, editorial investment and partner benefits.
  • Managing and executing various promotional calendars including writing scripts, coordinating talent and shoots on location.
  • Planning, implementing & executing station promotional and community events
  • Coordinating & executing personalities' appearances at internal and client events
  • Liaising with news talent and news department
  • Writing & editing media releases, personalities' speeches, media kits and personalities' biographies
  • Providing direction and guidance to internal and outside clients including graphic designers and editors
  • Creating and managing production of promotional and marketing materials
  • Coordinating high profile personalities' photo shoots
  • Writing, posting and promoting on line content including on air appearances.
  • Collaborating with various internal departments including sales, news & creative services plus external high profile clients, nonprofit, charitable organizations and community clients.
  • Managing station's promotional/marketing Social Media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
If you have the want to hear from you

  • University degree or the equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum 8 year experience in conventional media in the same or similar role.
  • Must have proven strong promotions background in a related field
  • Must have related and proven experience of dealing with high profile clients
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent presentation and analytical skills, plus demonstrated skills to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability of work under deadline pressure and extra hours or weekends if needed on assignments
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, effectively and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Strong working knowledge of multimedia tools including but not limited to Photoshop.
  • Comprehensive understanding or experience with Word Press and Banister Lake programs
  • Proficient in social media including but no limited to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Positive cando, flexible attitude and demeanor and willingness to 'roll up the sleeves' and pitch in as needed.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Responsible, reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle that can be used for business as needed.
  • Able to work flexible hours and travel as required.
