Legal Aid Saskatchewan has a rare opportunity to join our People and Culture team. We are looking for
full time, permanent People and Culture Specialist
. This role wears many different hats while supporting a busy team of professionals across the entire province.

The role leads administrative staff recruitment, wellness, health and safety efforts and supports Director of P&C in the creation and implementation of the DEI initiatives.

The role is based out of
Saskatoon Head Office** and eligible for flexible work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities


Under the guidance of the Director, People and Culture (P&C), the P&C Specialist implements Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and supports Director, P&C in creating and delivering on the DEI strategy and outcomes.

The P&C Specialist, under the guidance of Director, P&C creates and implements the Engagement and Wellness program and its objectives to support Legal Aid Saskatchewan's Strategic Priority of having Purpose-Driven Teams Producing Remarkable Outcomes.


I Straighten Organizational Culture and Staff Engagement

  • Under the guidance of Director of P&C, creates and implement DEI Strategy for Legal Aid Saskatchewan (LAS).
  • Ensures all management and nonmanagement employees are trained on topics such as Anti-Harassment, Anti-Bullying and Anti-Violence in the workplace.
  • In collaboration with the Director, P&C and Indigenous Policy Counsel, implements Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training programs and initiatives to promote awareness and understanding about BIPOC, 2SLGBTQQIA+, newcomers to Canada, and People with Disabilities.
  • Under the guidance of Director, P&C reviews current policies and practices of LAS to ensure alignment and compliance with Saskatchewan Human Right Code.
  • Ensures that LAS is compliant with Saskatchewan Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Ensures Area Office committee minutes are submitted.
  • Reports on Area Office incomplete OH&S actions to the Director, P&C.
  • Tracks OH&S training assignments & completions in the Learning Management System.
  • Participates as a member of the Joint Job Evaluation Committee.

II Improve Staff Recruitment and Retention

  • In collaboration with hiring managers, manages recruitment of admin support employees across LAS, including posting positions, conducting interviews, reference checks, creating and extending offer letters, initiating onboarding process and assisting with relocation program information.
  • Updates Staff Establishment List on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains and posts Seniority List.
  • Conducts stay and exit interviews with admin support employees and lawyers.
  • Assists with employee offboarding such as termination letters and offboarding process.
  • Assists in the coordination and administration of service recognition awards as well as lunch and learns as it relates to DEI Strategy and Engagement and Wellness Initiatives.
  • Maintains posting competition record for admin support employees.
  • Creates electronic personnel file, obtains new hire forms, administers the relocation program (new hires and transfers) for admin support employees.
  • Coordinates with the Law Society of Saskatchewan (LSS) on dues/reimbursements for lawyers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in human resources or organizational development, combined with minimum of two years of related experience in the area of human resources.
  • Must be an associate member of the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Saskatchewan and working towards CPHR designation.
  • Certification in DEI would be considered an asset.
  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • Experience and proficiency with computer software packages including MS Word, Outlook, LMS or equivalents.
  • Able to work under pressure: Deals with deadlines or time constraints.
  • Ability to multitask
