- Registration with the College of RegisteredPsychotherapists of Ontario.
- Experience with Substance Abuse/Concurrent Disordersan asset
- Minimum 4 years clinical experience in a mental healthsetting, including case management, and/or individual and group counselling.
- Current CPR certification
- Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, HealthCare Consent Act and Substitute Decision Maker Act
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificationrequired
- Knowledge of the DSM IV
- Sound assessment skills with regards to physicalassessment, mental assessment and risk assessment.
- Experience in the application of Mental HealthAssessment Tools
- Knowledgein Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy and CognitiveBehavioural Therapy considered an asset.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication,interpersonal and organizational skills.

The Opportunity:
To provide patient focused assessment, intervention,and education to those affected by serious mental illness and or acuteinstability in a population of adolescent, adult and geriatric presentations. This position is responsible for responding tocrisis/emergency situations of patients presenting in the Emergency Departmentand patients referred for internal psychiatric consultation within CGMH. To provide timely triage, assessment and casemanagement of treatable illness with a view to short term intervention and useof consultation. The position requires familiarity with fundamentalpsychiatric presentations, medical co-morbidity and psychotherapy.
