The Royal Canadian Yacht Club is a world class yacht club with a mandate to promote excellence in competitive sailing and sports. The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto at St George and Bloor. With over 4000 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.

Summary

  • The Maintenance Painter performs skilled painting work in the preparation, patching, finishing, and maintaining of interior and exterior surfaces (e.g., wood, plaster, drywall, steel, concrete, piping insulation, and brick), on all Club building structures, walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment following recognized procedures and techniques of the painting trade and using paint brushes, rollers, and/or sprayers, sandpaper, sanders, steel wool, wire brushes, and related painting tools.

ob Duties

  • Painting and assisting Maintenance cleaning of all fixtures and equipment, overhead doors, windows, cleaning and painting for walls and cleaning of ceilings and aisles.
  • Assist in the ongoing maintenance of the RCYC grounds and facilities
  • Perform all duties according to Health and Safety Standards
  • Comply with Club Policies and Procedures
  • Perform other task as assigned by Management

Requirements

:


  • A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a painting vocational/ technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program in the painting trade is preferred.
  • At least two years successful experience in the painting trade is required. Experience with the installation of wall coverings is preferred.
  • Experience in general construction is ideal but not a prerequisite.
  • Good communication and Member service skills
  • Comfortable working with various power tools and equipment as required
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical work activities, working at heights
  • Possess CSA certified steel toe safety boots

Work Conditions

  • Health and Safety:
  • Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulation and follow in accordance to the Club's Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Report all accidents, illnesses, or 'near miss" incidents to your direct reporting Manager immediately

Hours of Work:

  • Fulltime Position (approximately 3040 hours per week)
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions
  • Must be able to work some weekends and public holidays as required
