Position Detail

  • Job Title: Restaurant General Manager (RGM)
  • Location (Province): Alberta
  • Reporting To: District Manager (DM)
  • Position Summary:


The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) is responsible for managing the daily operations of a single restaurant (10-45employees) while ensuring delivery of quality food and guest satisfaction.

The RGM is accountable for maximizing sales and profitability while maintaining QSC standards, implementing all corporate policies and procedures, ensuring training and development of management and crew, and achieving desired restaurant outcomes as directed by the business or asassigned by management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
% of Time allocated (Total 100%)


  • Responsible for restaurant profit and loss management by implementing marketing strategies and follows cash control/security procedures. 25%
  • Maintains inventory, manages labor and applies financial reporting analysis to enhance restaurant results. 15%
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and motivate restaurant staff to perform assigned tasks and provide direction or support as necessary. 15%
  • Resolve complex customer complaints with politeness, courtesy and efficiency. 10%
  • Manage and resolve staffing issues, such as recruiting needs, employee conflicts, etc. 10%
  • Enforce and execute compliance with government regulations, Redberry Market Policy, employment laws, food safety, Redberry Security Policy, operations, and Redberry policies and procedures relating to all restaurant activities across shifts. 10%

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Attend and complete training essential to job function as required. 5%
  • Receive, inventory, move and lift food and beverage products and supplies. 5%
  • Maintain a solid knowledge of product and services available in unit. 3%
  • Clean the interior and exterior of the restaurant, including customer eating area(s), bathrooms, work stations and equipment. 2%

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 23 years of restaurant management experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and organizes own and others' work time to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Requires the ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as
- converse comfortable with customers.

  • Strong problem solving skills to resolve complex customer complaints and employee related issues/requests.
  • Strong leadership and development skills to contribute to achievement of team goals and promote teamwork.

Effort:

  • Requested to stand and walk for long periods of time without frequent rest periods (duration of shift).
  • Routinely reach overhead, forward, and underneath shelves, counters, tables, and kitchen equipment.
  • Frequent motions of bending, wiping, sweeping, mopping, wrapping, and squeezing.
  • Frequently squat or stoop to reach items on low shelves or off the floor.
  • Occasionally lift, move, carry, and stack cartons up to 30 pounds from various heights to/from shelves.
  • Occasionally climb on stools or ladders and reach for items located on shelves.

Decision Making/Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility of restaurant staff, plan and coordinate schedules, maintain floor control, hire and train new
- employees, and maintain confidential employee records.

  • Financial responsibility for the overall restaurant budget and sales.
  • Responsible for ensuring production, cleanliness and food quality control at the restaurant according to company and
- industry standards.

  • Decisions outside the scope of the role is escalated to the District Manager.

Working Conditions:


  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily indoor with occasional task outdoor in heat/cold,
- wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

  • Indoor environment is frequently exposed to fluctuating temperatures in areas such as cooler, freezer and cooking sections
- of restaurant.
