Job Summary


The Specialist, Marketing Intelligence reports directly to the Director, Pricing & Marketing Intelligence in a role designed to help drive the Marketing plan of action for Apotex's broad line of generic pharmaceutical products.


The Specialist, Marketing Intelligence will be responsible for developing, managing and supporting the business analysis and research needs for the domestic Apotex product portfolio.

The specific focus is to deliver strong intelligence and leverage it to drive product profitability.

Job Responsibilities


Working as part of the pricing team, the Specialist, Marketing Intelligence provides highly specialized competitive intelligence that drives the analysis and research requirements of the pricing group.


Key deliverables include the following:
Lead development and maintenance of all pricing and competitive intelligence databases, emphasising ability to connect various sources through common links (such as DINs)

Development of IQVIA market data management processes to improve the vendor feed by addition of related fields, DINs, competitive intel, Health Canada and other flags, as well as correcting errors in the data set.

To facilitate broader company usage of this information by making it available in various media (DSM and BO).


Critical uses include:
Allow easier cross functional use of competitive intel
Provide market insight into the RFP process
Support sales force effectiveness tool
Provide easy to use data feeds in support of forecasting and other purposes

Lead the development, delivery and support of a number of executive reports to show the performance of Apotex, generic competitors, and the generic industry.

Both internal and external stakeholders are targeted.


Some key reports include:
MER, CBR, ACES Executive Report and other IMS reports
CACDS, ACES and Roadshow Reports
Importance of Apotex exclusive/dual categories
Create complex reporting showing generic price erosion following provincial pricing reforms.

Key impact is to demonstrate to customers Apotex's lead role in maximizing market value through exceptions to regulations and launch of key products.

Work to improve all formulary data files which are connected in the Combined Formulary tool
Provide critical input to sales plan through tools which deliver market data and pricing forecast to Sales Finance team
Identify opportunities and make recommendations for improved profitability through price increases or trade spend reduction by data mining IMS, formulary and competitive intel sources
Provide key insight into actions/threats of generic briefcase companies and brand coupon cards
Provide or facilitate analysis/reporting to determine products in our portfolio with profitability issues, which can then be actioned by price and/or trade spend remediation
Train pricing team and other groups on use of data tools and reports
Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements

University degree (Business, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Computer Sciences preferred)
Proficiency in SQL, Python or other development tools as well as Qlik or Tableau
Previous experience in SAP or an ERP system
Advanced analytical abilities with a sound knowledge of quantitative decision models
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented, diplomatic team player with a proactive results orientation
Able to work with a minimum of supervision
Previous experience as an analyst or working in pricing capacity an asset
Previous experience in the Canadian Pharmaceutical industry an asset
Basic French language skills an asset
