Objective
Our operation consists of selling aggregate material to customers for construction projects.


Working as a team member, the Weighmaster/Loader Operator is in the field and helps coordinate the day-to-day activities at sites where shipping is taking place; Actively promotes safety and enforces site rules with contractors, drivers, visitors and customers; Provides excellent customer service by engaging employees and visitors in a professional and friendly manner; Acts as key person in communicating with and receiving feedback from drivers and contractors on topics of safety, logistics and customer service; Operates mobile equipment to load customer vehicles with aggregate in accordance with Lafarge's Best Practices and Policies; Operates weigh scales and front-end systems according to Lafarge policies and assists in various administration tasks as directed by management team.


The weighmaster/loader operator may also be assisting the Portable Crushing team with stockpiling material, transporting material, and clean up around the work area.


The weighmaster/loader operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the loader, which will consist of preventative maintenance before and after each shift for the day.

Preventative maintenance may include, but not limited to greasing, cleaning the machine, and conducting thorough inspection. All work is to be completed according to Lafarge's Best Practices and Policies.


Responsibilities

Safety:

  • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of "zero" safety incidents.
  • Administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure the yard and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional.

Environmental Management:

  • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Report and manage environmental spills to site management as they occur.
  • Operate equipment effectively to minimize carbon footprint of machinery.

Equipment:

  • Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices

Maintenance:

  • Perform daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment is properly maintained.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to minimize the amount of downtime incurred during shipping (i.e. greasing).+

Other:

  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the site.
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure the site is presentable.

Relationships with Others Jobs:

  • Reports to the Depot Supervisor

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Safety: Near Miss and HI process, MVA's, FA's, MI's, LTI's, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, Confined Space and WAH permits
  • Maintenance: daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspection process, prioritize deficiencies as they occur
  • Logistics: operates APEX system, follows SOP for taring, weighing, ticketing & data entry, open and close site(s) daily

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial plant operation experience an asset
  • Heavy equipment operation experience an asset
  • Valid "G" license
