International Quest Engineering Ltd.(IQE) has an available opportunity for a well-rounded, articulate Junior/Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team at their Prince George, British Columbia location. In this role, you will have the opportunity to plan, coordinate and develop structural designs for heavy industrial projects for the wood products, mining and energy sectors.

Responsibilities:

• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, software
• Perform field activities such as field reviews and inspections, provide onsite assistance to tradespersons when required, produce field reports, observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements
• Structural engineering plans, design, and layout
• Structural project specifications
• Structural engineering portion of project proposals
• Structural engineering portion of project cost estimates
• Provide sketches/concepts to designers
• Review/certify structural detail drawings
• Act as Engineer of Record and as the designated client contact on projects appropriate to experience level
• Handle routine contract administration
• Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
• Improve inhouse efficiency
• Take an active interest in promoting the business interests of the company and pursue opportunities to improve or expand the services offered

Qualifications:

• BSc/Engineering with a major in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with principal focus in Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing eligible for registration as a professional engineer with EGBC and other provincial jurisdictions
• 4+ years of structural engineering experience in the industrial / commercial field
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD & one or more analysis software packages such as S-Frame
• Works precisely and pays close attention to details
• Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge is an asset
• Ability/willingness to work in the field.
• Ability to define and develop criteria and cost estimates for plant modifications and/or other projects
• Excellent problemsolving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
