Part Time Term Opportunity - September 5, 2023 to February 1, 2024

Share the warmth and your passion for community with Koats for Kids

  • Each year, Koats for Kids collects and distributes over 6,000 winter coats, ski pants, boots, hats, mitts and scarves to children and families in Winnipeg, free of charge. The Koats for Kids Associate is a member of United Way Winnipeg's Community Engagement team and is responsible for working closely with United Way Winnipeg staff, program partners, volunteers, stakeholders and recipients to collect, process and distribute donations in a timely manner.
  • Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engagement Initiatives, this role will:
  • Work collaboratively with the Koats for Kids Manager to:
  • Orient, train and support volunteers
  • Build strong relationships with schools, communitybased organizations, daycares and other groups that access the program
  • Coordinate the flow of inventory between partners
  • Coordinate the delivery of completed orders to local schools, daycares and communitybased organizations
  • Launder donations and fill orders of winter outerwear
  • Build strong relationships with staff, volunteers and partners to ensure that all stakeholders have meaningful experiences that lead them to be confident and passionate ambassadors of United Way of Winnipeg

Qualifications
You possess energy and enthusiasm, an ability to think broadly and address details, strong communication and writing skills, and a commitment to strengthening our city


You also have:

  • Availability to work Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, and ability to flex hours as needed
  • Experience leading volunteers in a notforprofit setting
  • Strong time management skills combined with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to learn, thrive and problemsolve in a dynamic, fastpaced, changing environment
  • Engaging and outgoing personality combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to take initiative and demonstrate imagination and resourcefulness
  • Comfortable with technology (MS Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel); familiarity with Shopify an asset
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to lift 40lbs
