    The Canadian Film Institute is looking for a Film Operations Manager. This entry level position plays a key role in the technical production of both live and online Canadian Film Institute (CFI) events and screenings.

    The Canadian Film Institute is a registered charity which runs film events and festivals throughout the year including the Ottawa International Animation Festival, which is one of the largest events of its kind in the world, and IFFO – the International Film Festival of Ottawa.

    We offer a fun work environment with a downtown office in the Arts Court Building. You must be able to work in person in the office. During OIAF and IFFO, as well as our smaller events, you may be required to work unusual hours.

    Reporting to the Director of Film Operations, the Film Operations Manager will:

  • Provide administrative assistance for CFI events and festivals including, but not limited to:
  • Website and database management,
  • Arranging delivery and keeping track of presentation materials
  • Other operational responsibilities.
  • Assist with tracking and organizing print traffic
  • Correspond with filmmakers, producers and distributors regarding submissions and screening materials
  • Test and troubleshoot of screening materials and equipment
  • Creation of DCPs, blu-rays, video/audio files, and other on-screen materials for screenings and events when necessary
  • Assist with technical logistics, procurement, and A/V presentation for all CFI events and festivals
  • Includes the procurement and maintenance of computers and office-related technical equipment, and providing assistance with technical issues in the office and at all CFI venues.
  • Creating and editing trailers to be used for marketing our larger events: OIAF, IFFO, and EUFF.
  • Assist with the preparation and organizing of Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) film programming
  • Process incoming entries and manage the OIAF's database
  • Help with the coordination and logistics of the OIAF Selection committee process
  • Monitor incoming materials for programmed films
  • Prepare OIAF film programming information for publications and website
  • Office Location: Arts Court, 2 Daly Ave. Ottawa

    Remuneration: Six-month contract (May-October) with potential to become permanent. Total gross contract pay is $20,, alongside valuable networking and skill development opportunities.

  • Previous experience with running tech for live events, screenings, presentations, etc

  • Video editing and encoding knowledge/experience

  • Skills and Abilities

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field of study is preferred but not required
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
  • Knowledge/experience with web design, coding, HTML, SQL
  • Experience with film programming
  • French, other languages
