    About Us

    As part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, Digital Health provides quality information to health professionals, the public, researchers, and health system decision makers. Through collaboration with the health system, we support the development of data and technical standards, maintain key health databases, carry out analytics and evaluation, and support health research. We support healthcare within Newfoundland and Labrador, including patients and communities through the delivery of information technology (IT) and digital health services applied in the healthcare system to provide quality care. Our mandate includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians.

    About the Role

    We are currently looking for a temporary, full time Applications Analyst II to join our Solutions Development and Support team. The Applications Analyst II will work closely with the eHealth Applications team as an integrated member providing support for HEALTHeNL, the provincial Electronic Health Record (EHR), as well as various other eHealth and corporate applications. We are looking for a highly motivated and results oriented individual who will play an integral role in supporting the provincial EHR with high regard for patient safety and customer service. Reporting to the Provincial Manager, Application Support, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Provide tier II operational support and guidance for a vast array of eHealth applications and middleware in a highly integrated environment, providing issue resolution or recommendations for business processes.
    • Perform and/or assist with development of customizations, application configurations, and integration testing, and provide recommendations on configurations of new features to ensure application usage and performance is optimized, and alignment with business requirements.
    • Provide guidance and support in various eHealth project implementations.
    • Work with system vendors, business owners and other technical and non-technical teams for both operational support and eHealth project development and implementations.
    • Develop and maintain support policies and procedures.
    • Analyze technical report outcomes.
    • Provide data quality assurance services and recommendations to improve data quality.
    • Take part in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.

    About You

    Your education and experience include:

    • Bachelor's degree and/or Diploma in Computer Science or IT related field.
    • A minimum of 7 years' experience providing application support in a multi-system, highly integrated enterprise environment.

    You have the following skills and abilities:

    • Proven experience and skills in effective communication, problem solving, documentation standards and a rigor for change management and quality control.
    • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships and convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Understanding and experience designing data models to facilitate complex reporting and data extraction requests.
    • Experience with requirements analysis, design, and code reviews; understanding of revision control and experience with unit testing.
    • Working knowledge of ITIL framework including incident, release, and change management protocols.
    • Strong understanding of privacy, confidentiality, and access control measures.
    • Ability to deal with sensitive information using sound judgement, diplomacy, and discretion.

    It would be an asset if you have the following:

    • Experience with HL7 messaging standards.
    • Experience in the analysis, design, and development of complex integrated enterprise level applications.
    • Proficiency in analyzing data in addition to report writing using SQL.
    • Salesforce experience or certification in salesforce administration or salesforce developer is an asset.
    • Experience with BI reporting and data visualization tools.
    • Experience with various programming languages and software development.
