QUALIFICATIONS & licensing:


  • 35 years Heating/Plumbing experience preferably in a service capacity.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, manuals and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence using tablets and PC devices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and follow specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to provide oncall emergency services after hours and weekends on a rotational basis, 2 week duration approximately every 3 months.
  • Red Seal Journeyman Plumber
  • A and/or B Gas Ticket.
  • Current valid driver's license with clean driving abstract.

WORK SCHEDULE


Our service technicians work a five-day schedule Monday to Friday, typically start time is between 7-8 am and finish is between 3:30-4:30 pm.

There is also a paid 2-week rotating on-call schedule for after hours and weekends, the rotational frequency is approximately every 3 months.

The monetary payment for on call standby is 4.5 hours pay per week when on call.

If after hours work is required, compensation is paid as per the overtime provision in the UA Local 170 collective agreement.


SERVICE AREA


The company operates only in the GVRD, spanning from West Vancouver to Chilliwack (and very few out that far) and does not typically take on work outside of this region.


TOOLS PROVIDED TO PERFORM YOUR JOB


A fully equipped, well stocked service van is supplied with all the necessary tools needed to perform your work effectively and efficiently.

If specialized tools are required, they are readily available at our office service shop. All service vans go home with each tech daily.

What a typical day as a Service Tech at National looks like:
The techs day starts at the arrival of the first call of the day. This also applies if the day starts at our shop /office in Surrey. Our typically service days /jobs for our techs is quite varied.

High-rise building boiler work and service is an ongoing program in our buildings with a multitude of direct heating manufacturer installs in the many buildings we service.

We utilize a web-based system to dispatch our technicians, complete work order and bill our clients.

All work orders are dispatched to the tech via a mobile phone and all work orders are completed through this system which is connected to our office dispatch team.

Advanced training programs are continuously offered to our employees to upgrade / enhance their skill set. Our service team is a close knit group relying on each other strengths. Each tech knows only a phone call is needed for assistance and the service management team is on call 24/7
