$61,625 - $72,500

The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN), established in 1998, is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the health and lives of people living with and at risk of HIV by using data and evidence to drive change.

We work with three main types of partners: 1) testing programs and clinics; 2) AIDS service and other community-based organizations; and 3) policy and system leaders within and beyond the health sector—to support the implementation of the provincial HIV strategy, priorities, and directions.


JOB SUMMARY


The Lead, Policy & System Initiatives under the direction of the
Senior Lead, Policy & System Initiatives, plays a key role in leading activities that will contribute to improving care, health outcomes and quality of life of people living with or at risk of HIV in Ontario.

The Lead, Policy and System Initiatives will lead the implementation of new initiatives; provide organizational and administrative support to partners; and engage communities affected by and at risk of HIV across several provincial projects


Responsibilities will include:

project implementation, community engagement activities, supporting working groups and committees, and contributing to collaborative initiatives to develop programs to successfully end the HIV epidemic in Ontario.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lead, Policy and System Initiatives will be responsible for advancing three key areas of work**:

1. PrEP training and PrEP resources development

  • Oversee the development and implementation of preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) training to build capacity providers who prescribe and monitor patients on PrEP by:

A:
Working closely with a team of PrEP experts to deliver, promote and schedule PrEP provider training across Ontario.

B:
Organizing PrEP outreach events with external partners to promote access and reach communities in geographic regions underserved for PrEP


2. Toronto to Zero initiative

  • Work with the Senior Lead, Policy & System Initiatives to draft an Action Plan for Toronto to Zero that incorporates recommendations from various task groups
  • Work with the Senior Lead, Policy & System Initiatives to implement new Ontariowide programs and initiatives

3. Medication access

  • Work closely with two working groups (universal access and Interim access) to identify and develop recommendations for initiatives that will reduce and eliminate barriers to medication access by:

A:
Supporting the development of a business case to the Ministry of health for universal medication access in Ontario

B:
Identifying partners and supporting the implementation of initiatives that reduce and/or eliminate barriers to medication access.


Project implementation and evaluation

  • Lead the evaluation of policy and system initiative projects.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with stakeholders including managing logistics, developing and circulating meeting agendas and materials, and recording, transcribing, and distributing meeting minutes; and following up on action items.

Communications and Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain and manage the Toronto to Zero and websites, including making regular content updates, engaging new followers, and supporting social media campaigns
  • Organize community consultation activities that create opportunities for communities affected by HIV to stay informed and provide input on OHTN projects and affiliated programs
  • Draft summaries and other content for the OHTN's newsletter, websites and media as required.
  • Work with the Communications team to produce resources and KTE products among providers and people at risk of HIV to improve understanding of various projects
  • Respond to requests for information from external stakeholders on OHTN policy and system initiatives, including providing additional information and resources, and connecting with partners where appropriate.

Reporting responsibilities

  • Report on progress in meeting program plan objectives and milestones

Attend to other duties as required

ABOUT YOU

  • Master's degree (or equivalent education and experience) in a relevant field such as health sciences, public health, health policy or any relevant field
  • At least three years of demonstrated relevant experience in project management and implementation
  • General knowledge of HIV or health sector
  • Strong problemsolving and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with researchers, clinicians, community, policy and system leaders to achieve shared goals
  • Strong team player with demonstrated strong written and oral communications skills, and ability to adjust communications for various audiences
  • HIV/AIDS experience/knowledge, inc
