About the Role

Everest Insurance Company of Canada is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Company in the position of Senior Underwriter - Management Liability. As a Senior Underwriter - Management Liability, reporting to the Head of Financial Lines, you will be accountable for all facets of renewal and new business production for Everest's growing insurance group.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

• Have a full understanding of Everest Canada corporate underwriting philosophies, authority and guidelines.
• Underwrite/analyze new business for risk profitability through in depth analytical, fundamental and financial analysis on both Private and Publicly Traded Companies, Banks, Investment Advisors, REITS, Mutual Funds, Private Equity/Venture Capital Funds, and Hedge Funds.
• High level of underwriting expertise in risks associated with:
  • Directors and Officers Liability
  • Directors & Officers Side A DIC
  • Investment Manager Liability
  • Employment Practices Liability
  • Private Company Liability
  • Fiduciary Liability
  • Errors & Omissions Liability
  • Fidelity Bonds
• Solid foundation in financial statement analysis –Annual Reports, AIF's, Analyst Reports and Prospectuses.
• Underwrite new and renewal business according to current underwriting approach and philosophy in a service-oriented environment, ensuring high renewal retention.
• Maintain the long-term profitability of a portfolio of accounts, within the bounds of internal underwriting guidelines and individual underwriting authority. This includes the ability to successfully negotiate terms, conditions and pricing to achieve new business, renewal and profitability targets.
• Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with contracted producers including solicitation of new business opportunities and participate in production trips and corporate functions for marketing purposes as required.
• Assist in the development and coordination of product and marketing efforts.
• Ability to assess and communicate to the Everest Underwriting Team and Senior Management competitive factors in the marketplace as they relate to Everest's corporate underwriting portfolio, in addition to changing market conditions and movement of industry personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive Management Liability underwriting (focus in Public D&O or Financial Institutions risk) and/or broking experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, BComm or BBA preferred
• CFA, CIP, FCIP, CRM or related insurance certification considered an asset.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.

• Exceptional oral and written communication with the ability to concisely provide executive summaries to senior management.
• Strong problem-solving analytical skills, with an ability to drive data analytics and make appropriate conclusions on results.
• Team oriented and ability to work effectively with peers.
• Demonstrated bias for action with a high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and drive for results.
• Strong underwriting acumen, specifically as it relates to analyzing D&O risks, with a deep understanding of market pricing.
• Strong relationships with key trading partners.
• Proven ability to underwrite profitable business in relevant lines of business.
