Description

Reporting to the Property Manager, the Building Services Worker is responsible for providing and ensuring a safe, secure, healthy, comfortable and pleasant environment both within the facility and on the grounds, to promote the wellbeing of employees and visitors.

The Building Services Worker will be responsible for service inside and outside of the facility.

The Building Services Worker will work together with the Property team to provide the facility with a regular maintenance and cleaning program.

CONSUMER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct prospective client site meetings
  • Directs and responds to inquiries from employees and visitors

  • Ensures the organization's furnishings and equipment are kept clean and functional
  • Provides routine, preventive and remedial housekeeping services
  • Set up and tear down of space furnishings for the use of internal and external users
  • Actively participate in service reviews and work to improve services based on feedback
  • Direct event coordination
  • Provide close protection services to individuals requiring physical assistance at night
  • Monitor security risks and implement mitigation strategy
  • Maintain a professionalcasual dress code during maintenance and housekeeping work
  • Maintain a smartcasual dress code during events, weddings, funerals, and site tours for same
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

  • Reviews departmental manuals and remains current on updated sections
  • Assesses systems, programs and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Maintenance of the interior and exterior of the building
  • Ensures appropriate supply and storage of supplies and equipment
  • Provides feedback regarding the effectiveness of maintenance, services and programs
  • Ensures the availability of tools to complete required tasks
  • Patrols the outside premises, checks and secures all perimeter doors
  • Participates in improvement efforts
  • Maintains detailed logs of work completed using mobile based software
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Property Manager

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Maintains a hygienic environment for the visitors and staff in compliance with applicable legislation
  • Provides a clean, sanitary and hygienic environment in housekeeping, maintenance and the entire facility
  • Maintains a safe work environment at all times
  • Ensure the provision of safe access to facilities for the public by monitoring entrances
  • Supports deescalation of aggressive guests or clients
  • Assists with garbage disposal using appropriate methods
  • Ensures proper safety gear (personal protective equipment) is worn as required
  • Ensure work environment is clean and organized at all times
  • Identifies, reports and fixes (if possible) unsafe working conditions
  • Knowledgeable about fire evacuation procedures
  • Maintains current and valid CPI/Safe Management certification or other deescalation training
  • Maintains current and valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Attends required training within approved time limits
  • Reviews all health and safety policies and procedures

STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attends meetings and participates in committee work as required
  • Recommends resources for maintaining and repairing equipment
  • Ensures an adequate quantity of housekeeping, and maintenance supplies are on hand
  • Participate in the organization's quality management program

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of Grade 1
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools
  • Basic understanding and/or experience with operation of plumbing and electrical systems, and a willingness to learn more
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Possesses or is willing to obtain Occupational Health and Safety Certifications
  • Knowledgeable about WHMIS
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
  • Respects the goals, and objectives of the organization
  • Ability to lift and manipulate up to 23 kilograms (51 pounds)
  • Strong English skills, both written and oral

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent


Salary:
$20.00 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 10 per week
