Transit Driver - Cochrane On-Demand Local Transit

Location: Cochrane, AB

SOUTHLAND Transportation is currently seeking career-oriented On-Demand Transit Drivers to join our team Transit Drivers are responsible for safely transporting passengers daily and must be committed to providing superior service while demonstrating strong communication skills, patience, maturity, and initiative. This is a part-time position, working approximately hours per week. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Transport passengers safely and according to route and time schedules
• Manage the transit operator tracking software via the provided tablet, while the bus is not being operated
• Maintain radio contact and use proper radio protocol
• Operate the transit vehicle in a safe manner in all-weather condition and be prepared for all road conditions
• Provide information and assist passengers in a courteous manner
• Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems
• Report vehicle maintenance issues, passenger emergencies, and schedule concerns
• Conduct pre-and-post trip checks of unit each time it is used
• Drop off or pick up the bus when requested by Operations or Maintenance
• Complete various forms of paperwork, as required
• Wear the approved uniform in the prescribed manner

Requirements

• Valid Class 4 driver's license (Class 2 training provided)
• Clean driver's abstract
• Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
• Strong knowledge of city roadways
• Physical ability to push/pull wheelchairs up and down a ramp
• Map reading ability via driver tablet
• Organized, punctual, and reliable
• Calm, upbeat, and helpful manner
• Excellent driving skills and habits
