Job Summary:

Work location for this position is ideally in-office. This is a new role, therefore, initially we expect 4-days in-office with more flexibility added as the role develops. When working remote, the work is required to be completed within the Province of Ontario.

As the
Manager of Agribusiness Underwriting, you will be accountable for leading product development and daily operations for underwriting services related to the Agribusiness.


Leadership and Operational Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement agribusiness underwriting plans, processes, procedures, and coordinates specific projects in accordance with approved company strategic plan.
  • Lead a team of SME underwriters, and team leaders to influence frontline decisions to shape the best practices of the agribusiness department.
  • Implement corporate strategic direction to sustain a profitable book of business and growth objectives.
  • Provide direction, guidance, training, and technical advice leading to the development of underwriters to achieve their highest performance potential.
  • Develop, execute, and oversee KPIs, to achieve business goals and service standards.
  • Communicate department objectives and motivate the team to meet and exceeding customer service standards.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations on staffing levels, staff development, broker authority, underwriter authority levels and workflow.
  • Be the face of Kent & Essex Mutual's Agribusiness SME UW team.
  • Develop and facilitate strong broker relationships using a high degree of diplomacy and negotiation.

Skills & Requirements

  • A college diploma in business, agriculture, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years' technical experience in the P&C insurance industry plus 35 years of people management experience.
  • CIP/FCIP/CRM designation earned or in progress or equivalent Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance technical background.
  • Advanced knowledge through work or life experience of agribusiness/farm risk evaluation, rating, and procedures.
  • Proven technical skills, sound judgment and decisionmaking skills are essential.
  • An exemplary role model, demonstrating inspirational and motivational leadership for the entire business.
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and compelling representative of Kent & Essex Mutual to policyholders and external contacts.
  • Demonstrates collaboration, integrity, and performance in all that they do.

Must have:


  • Minimum of 10 years' technical experience in the P&C insurance industry plus 35 years of people management experience.

Salary:
$100,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
