Job Description - Phlebotomy
Kinetix Medicine operates a community-based clinic in Kitsilano, Vancouver in the medical corridor.

We provide timely access to collaborative, multidisciplinary musculoskeletal evaluation and pain management procedures and solutions, that results in long term improved physical and psychological functioning.

We are looking for a skilled healthcare worker, who will work closely and collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to assess and monitor patient's needs, be responsible for carrying out blood draws and assist physicians during treatments and procedures.


Responsibilities:


  • Serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood samples and other specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures.
  • Verifies patient identification and explains sampling procedures to patients.
  • Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
  • Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Resolves unusual test orders by contacting the physician, pathologist, nursing station, or reference laboratory, referring unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification, and notifying supervisor of unresolved orders.
  • Reassures patients who are nervous about sampling procedures and applies dressings to wounds created by blood draws.
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update patient information in electronic health records.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Maintains an organized and clean workspace.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as chart preparation and maintaining patient records.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Adept at venipuncture, phlebotomy, and finger sticks

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)

Education & Licensing Requirements:


  • High school diploma
  • Phlebotomist certification
  • First aid certification
  • Prior experience as a phlebotomist technician a plus

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time


Salary:
$26.00-$30.00 per hour
