    Description

    Reporting to the Forman, the job of the dozer operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the dozer. The dozer operator levels and scoops soil and controls the direction and angle of the equipment to move rocks and debris.

    Equipment Operations:

  • Operate the dozer and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
  • Understand, interpret, and follow directions from supervisors as to the required work area.
  • Operate dozer controls to regulate the height and angle of the dozer blade and lower scarify to loosen packed soil to permit grading.
  • Feel the levers and listen to equipment sounds to determine the depth of the cut.
  • Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
  • Drive the dozer in successive passes over the construction surface to raise or lower terrain to a specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.
  • Use the dozer to level soil, move rocks or debris, and scoop soil.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of the dozer.
  • Ensure the dozer is in proper gear and not moving too fast for working conditions.
  • Operate other heavy equipment and other construction related duties as required.

    • Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of dozers and other heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes, and industry requirements.
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.

    The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

    Qualifications & Experience

  • A high school diploma, or , is preferred.
  • Class 5 Driver's License.
  • 2–3 years' experience operating a Dozer is required, GPS experience would be an asset.
  • Relevant oilfield certification and safety tickets would be an asset.
  • Must be willing to work out of town as needed.
