    Description

    Responsibilities

    1. Provides structural engineering design and constructability analysis for the installation, application, and removal of temporary construction systems
    2. Develops plans, processes, and procedures which support construction operations
    3. Contributes to the corporate and department reference databases and libraries
    4. Stays current with industry practices, codes, and standards
    5. Works directly with project teams to produce engineering deliverables, and may include travel to project sites across all PCL's operating locations
    6. Implements designated technology and application analysis software for engineering design applications (ex: RISA, Lpile)
    7. Ensures all documents are produced, maintained and stored according to professional practice management plan procedures and regulatory requirements
    8. Develops and maintains strong stakeholder and client relationships
    9. Engages in the development and delivery of construction training initiatives across all PCL's operating locations
    10. Must have a valid passport, be eligible for required visas, and travel independently throughout to any international location including North America-wide, Hawaii and Australia

    Qualifications

    1. Completion of a 4-year accredited engineering university degree program in Civil, Structural, or related specialty
    2. Engineer In Training registration with a Canadian provincial engineering regulator (ex: APEGA)
    3. 1-2 years' experience in structural engineering obtained through either engineering student work-terms or as a full-time employee in consulting or construction roles
    4. Familiarity with steel, concrete, wood and geotechnical considerations in structural engineering design
    5. Introductory construction knowledge; understands specifications and drawings
    6. Familiarity with the building construction process and the various components involved at each stage of construction
    7. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    8. Proficient using Autodesk AutoCAD
    9. Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite

    Condition of Employment

    1. Passing certification for the US NCEES Fundamentals in Engineering (FE-Civil) Exam within 6 months of hiring
    2. Passing certification for the US NCEES Principals and Practice of Engineering (PE-Civil/Structural) Exam within 2 years of hiring (or up to 4 years from hiring as required to obtain professional work experience)
    3. Professional engineering licensure with a Canadian provincial engineering regulator (P.Eng.) within 2 years of hiring (or up to 4 years from hiring as required to obtain professional work experience). Preference for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec
    4. Professional engineering licensure with a US state engineering regulator (P.E.) within 2 years of hiring (or up to 4 years from hiring as required to obtain professional work experience). Preference for California, Washington State, Hawaii, Minnesota
