Description

Canadian Mental Health Association Durham is an integrated community mental health and primary care hub that has been providing mental health services to Durham Region for over 60 years.


During that time, it has evolved to provide a broad range of services to individuals and their families experiencing mental health challenges, from information and education to case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, housing and primary healthcare.

These services are provided through inter-professional teams focused on providing clinically based services that, in addition to dealing with client mental health issues, address social determinants of health using the recovery model.

The Employee Expereince (EE) Team is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join the team.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the full cycle recruitment & selection process, including: draft job descriptions and job postings, conduct phone screenings, develop interview questions in consultation with manager, coordinate and conduct interviews, complete reference checks
  • Draft employment agreements, contract extensions and internal employee transitions
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of new recruitment initiatives and resources
  • Compile recruitment measurement data and keep up with the latest recruiting trends
  • Assist with agency planning of staffing requirements
  • Maintain accurate data and information of employee records on agency's HRIS, BambooHR
  • Train new staff on BambooHR
  • Review and ensure accuracy of time management records, including vacation, flex, paid personal leave, etc.
  • Coordinate probationary performance review process following 3 months/6 months of employment for new employees
  • Act as a resource for leadership team for follow up and review of probationary review outcomes
  • Act as a resource to agency employees for all HR related matters, including policies, protocols and procedures
  • Assist with the employee years of service recognition program
  • Coordinate and track training and development initiatives within the agency and maintain employee's internal and external training records.
  • Conduct audits to verify staff registrations and memberships with professional colleges, associations and other regulatory bodies, and provide a comprehensive report to the Employee Engagement Lead, with any follow up requirements
  • Stay current on relevant legislation and best practices, CMHA Durham policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of a Human Resources Management Program from an accredited postsecondary institution and a minimum of 2 years related work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Member in good standing with Human Resources professional Association
  • Holds the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation would be considered an asset
  • Experience with recruitment in the health and/or nonprofit sector an asset
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Understand the importance of file completeness
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workflow to meet deadlines and to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Extremely detailed oriented and solutionfocused
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative and be proactive
  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
  • Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
  • Must possess a professional and positive image at all times
  • A successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check, as per agency policy and procedures
