Description
Reporting to the Controller, the Supervisor, Internal Audit ensures all auditing activities compliance with policies and procedures.

As Supervisor, Internal Audit, you will work in conjunction with Business Leaders, the Accounting department, the System department, the Audit Committee and to Bison Transport's Internal Auditing Process.


Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Corrective Action: As audits identify processes that require improvement, the Internal Auditor will drive projects for correction.
  • Identification and Execution: Identify audit opportunities including but not limited to GST/PST audits, Driver pay, Customer rating and invoicing, purchasing, inventory, and fuel and fuel tax.
  • An additional component to Identification and Execution is to act as an expert and reference point for any potential process change that may affect payroll, revenue, purchasing and/or financial analysis.
  • The Audit Committee: Act as a sounding board for audit activities to bring forward ideas for audit projects from their areas of expertise.
  • Manage the continuous improvement of the internal audit function
  • Examine and analyze accounting and financial records, documents and systems of individuals, departments within organizations to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and make recommendations to improve individual or establishment's accounting and management practices.
  • Work with individual departments to determine new audit opportunities that could be leveraged
  • Establish an ongoing process for the audit of identified opportunities
  • Review processes and procedures to ensure working as designed
  • Conduct field audits of businesses to ensure compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act, Canadian Business Corporations Act or other statutory requirements.
  • Postsecondary degree or certificate internal audit, accounting, finance, administration or business.
  • Audit experience and/or manager, financial and IT experience would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and to plan, prioritize and execute projects.
  • Demonstrated superior analytical skills in proposing wellfounded conclusions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent Excel software skills; with power pivot and analysis tools considered an asset.
