Position is Monday to Friday rotating shifts from and 1 in 3 weekends from You are organized, adaptable, and can work effectively under pressure.

Able to prioritize tasks and manage your time, you have technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary in medical laboratories today.

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is looking for an individual like you for the role of Medical Laboratory Assistant 1.

Equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with.

You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy.


Description:


As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.


Additional Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Participates in continuing education and training to maintain current knowledge. Demonstrates excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations. Maintains professionalism at all times. Performs repetitive duties efficiently and accurately.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a PSC or Community Hospital Laboratory within the last 2 years is preferred.
