Pacifica Treatment Centre Society (Pacifica) is seeking individuals to join the Board of Directors.***
Start date: Immediately following the recruitment process, to be ratified at the September 14th, 2023, Annual General Meeting.


About Pacifica Treatment Centre:


Pacifica is an innovative non-profit society, founded in1977, providing progressive in-residence treatment and community-based supportive recovery services for individuals experiencing problematic substance use, in conjunction with concurrent mental health concerns and trauma.


Pacifica has established a continuum of services that enhance sustainable recovery, quality of life, and wellbeing of the individuals we serve.

Through treatment, education, and ongoing support, we empower individuals to "own their path" to self-discovery, self-empowerment, and self-actualization.

We are an accessible and gender-inclusive non-profit treatment centre in Vancouver.

Promoting recovery from problematic substance use through holistic treatment that empowers individuals, families, and communities.

Corporate Governance:

Pacifica is governed under the Society Act (British Columbia).

Following a hybrid governance model, the volunteer Board sets direction through strategic planning; acts as a trustee of the organization's assets, ensuring it is well managed and fiscally sound; maintains legal requirements; and, sets the standards of conduct for the organization.


Directors:


  • Term: _Directors serve for a twoyear term, which may be renewed twice.
  • Time Commitment: _Directors are asked to attend Board meetings once every two months and participate on at least one bimonthly Committee meeting. Committees include Governance, Finance, Development, and Human Resources. Typically, commitment is from 25 hours per month.
  • Requirements of

Board Membership:
_

  • Commitment to the work of the organization
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, finance, programs, legal, health human resources, advocacy, fundraising, or DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
  • Be fully informed on organizational matters and participate in the Board's deliberation and decisions on matters of policy, finance, services, advocacy, fundraising, and DEI.
  • Willingness to serve on additional committees as required
  • Attendance at Board of Directors meetings
  • Attendance at Annual General Meetings
  • Support of special events
  • Support of, and participation in fundraising events and initiatives
