Position Summary:


To oversee the operational responsibility both financially and functionally of the Mississauga shop including, New Equipment PDI's, Renewed Builds, Rentals PDI/Repairs, and Shipping/Receiving for three facilities.

You will drive results through a diverse team of technicians and shipper/receivers.

The Shop Manager should have a strong focus on health and safety, development of people, and continuous improvement practices.


Department Management

  • Shop Operations
  • Oversee shop operations supporting: New Equipment PDI's, Rentals PDI's and repairs RENEWED equipment builds, and Customer repairs & Overhauls
  • Manage WO's, production capacity, and scheduling of orders to be completed
  • Manage all shop KPI's (utilization, OT, revenue, profitability, and more)
  • Identify and implement cost control measures for parts & labour in the shop
  • Oversee and approve shop quotes to ensure value is given to customer
  • Work with business direction and sales to drive revenue and manage internal processes
  • Work with Rentals and Sales Coordination to manage customer expectations
  • Manage Rentals/New equipment inventory and reconciliation of variances with internal business stake holders
  • Facilities planning, optimization and project management
  • Shipping/Receiving
  • Manage shipping/receiving activities for 3 locations (2 Mississauga locations, Oakville-GNJ)
  • Maintain established warehouse storage and prepare for inbound/outbound shipments
  • Work with corporate logistics team to book BOL's for deliveries to be fulfilled
  • Enforce established inventory control, inventory tagging, and scanning procedures
  • Employee Engagement/Development
  • Perform annual performance reviews
  • Set strategic goals and objectives for all staff
  • Support onboarding systems and ongoing training for all staff
  • Meet 1:1 with all staff and host department meetings monthly
  • Develop and sustain succession planning for business growth and staff development

Health & Safety/ASEC/RLM 15%

  • Continue to build upon H&S culture, while maintaining all H&S records and accreditations
  • Manage/conduct accident investigation, report on findings with preventative actions, and complete required documentation in accordance with H&S policy
  • Meet weekly with shop operations team to review & discuss H&S topics/assignments
  • Participate in TPS/Lean and H&S meetings
  • Delegate/assign tasks or projects as required relating to ASEC & RLM
  • Maintain RLM and ASEC certifications through continuous improvement activities such as leaders standard work, 5S, kaizen, defect tracking and Gemba Walks

P&L/Budget Responsibility

  • Manage P&L to ensure revenue generation and cost are within budgetary requirements
  • Adjust and sustain cost containment measures
  • Prepare annual budgets for Shop & Facilities locations
  • Prepare biannual and monthly forecasts
  • Support financial and operational opportunities communicate with Regional Director
  • Prepare and implement action plans through business planning (OBSM) where adjustments are necessary

General

  • Attend necessary Service, Sales, Rentals, Parts meetings and/or Town Halls
  • Attend all Regional meetings as necessary
  • Work with the Regional Director in ensuring objectives are met
  • Responsible for Scraping & disposal of older equipment or obsolete equipment/product
  • Works with business unit leaders to support all initiatives and projects
  • Support special events taking place in all 3 facilities
