Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Quality, Standards and Innovation, the Coordinator is responsible for supporting the identification, analysis and implementation of short-term and long-term quality initiatives to improve environmental services across all Providence Health Care (PHC) sites.

In collaboration with the Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining exceptional customer and operational service provider relations that deliver consistent performance to commonly required standards.


Assists the Manager in identifying major changes that affect services across all sites, while ensuring the implementation of all standards and procedures are in alignment with the goals of the organization, policies and regulatory and other requirements.

Supports the development of effective communication strategies to ensure standards and procedures are disseminated and adopted by all staff and stakeholders.

Fosters partnerships with customer departments throughout the organization, and with internal and external stakeholders to influence, persuade and facilitate consensus with respect to resources, rights, and privileges regarding environmental services.


Qualifications / Skills and Education:
Education


Diploma in Environmental Management, Business Administration, or related field and five (5) to seven (7) years' related experience in a multi-site organization including experience with quality assurance programs and environmental services policy and procedures within healthcare settings, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of health facility support service operations within a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of contract management, budget and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with quality assurance programs and the ability to critically assess and implement policy, procedures and standards and influence change.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational and project management principles, methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects to ensure successful completion including assisting in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of associated budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including preparing reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound judgment, critical thinking and effective decisionmaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and problemsolve issues towards effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and balance work while respond to changing priorities and unforeseen circumstances.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Manager, Quality, Standards and Innovation and the Managers, Environmental Services provides support and advice in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of short and long-range goals and objectives and operational opportunities in support of the identified strategic directions of the Environmental Services department and organization as a whole.
  • Provides expertise and advice in establishing effective communication processes to ensure visibility and adoption of best practices by staff and stakeholders both internal and external to environmental services.
  • Assists with the design, planning and operation of core training programs for environmental services across PHC, including adherence with standards, best practice, and documented policies and procedures. Develops and/or recommends monitoring systems to ensure staff attend training and refresher sessions as required, and that staff attendance is communicated to leaders. Liaises with applicable departments and/or vendor/contractors regarding access to departmental systems.
  • Assists with the development and ensures implementation and operation of audit processes to monitor adherence to core standards and safety requirements.
  • Works collaboratively in the design and implementation of systems for the regular collection, analysis and reporting of environmental service quality, efficiency and regulatory compliance for both in-house and contractor/vendor provided services. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports to stakeholders based on analytics and established Key Performance Indicators (KPI). May utilize KPIs, service level agreements and other information to identify variances and suggest corrective actions.
