    We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is people-orientated and familiar with Information Systems

    Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the IT Support Analyst is responsible for the maintenance of the Town's microcomputer local area network, including hardware and software, to ensure smooth operation of all computer systems. The IT Support Analyst is also responsible for evaluating and recommendation on new hardware and software purchases for municipal operations. Installation, configuration, and integration of new hardware and software with existing hardware and information systems.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Network Administrator: (Includes maintaining several of the Town of Slave Lakes facilities)
    • Installing and configuring workstations (hardware).
    • Installing and configuring applications (software).
    • Managing and configuring server resources to ensure stable operation.
    • Installing, and administering corporate centrally managed antivirus program and Firewall programs.
    • Trouble shoot and resolve network (hardware / software) problems.
    • Documenting network configurations and procedures.
    • Managing users and network security.
    • Protecting data by implementing a good network file system and by ensuring regular data back-ups are completed.
    • Assisting and filling in for Communications Coordinator in maintenance of Town's web page.
    • Maintenance of Town's email system, database server, municipal finance software and other software programs.
    • Evaluating the need for network/PC upgrades (hardware and software) and installing new network/PC components.
    • Recommending courses or training users internally on use of client software.
    • Maintenance of Town's Xerox machines and contract.
    • Maintenance of Communications devices (phones, mobile devices, radios)
    • Other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • Completion of a post-secondary education in Information systems and/or 5+ years of experience in tier 2 general IT support and operations, ideally with a rural municipality.
    • A+, MCSE, and/or MCDST certified, and/or Azure fundamentals and/or equivalent proven experience working in a diverse technology environment supporting hardware, software and Azure in a tier 1 and 2 capacity.
    • ITIL Foundations Certified and/or proven equivalent IT operations knowledge/experience.
    • Proficient technical skills in the facets of deskside, server and Azure support and strong understanding of MS Office (M365) and MS Teams and general productivity tools.
    • Experience with servers, mobile device management, Azure, Microsoft Virtual Desktop.
    • Proficient in supporting mainly Android and some Apple mobile devices.
    • Audio visual experience is considered an asset.
    • Familiarity with supporting corporate networks is considered an asset.
    • SQL and reporting knowledge are considered an asset.
    • Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is considered an asset.
    • Experience gathering requirements and helping to create or select business solutions is considered and asset.
    • Experience with the setup of servers, and implementation of a new network would be considered an asset.
    • Experience in designing and implementing corporate websites and website building languages, would be considered an asset.
    • Applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered, based on experience.

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Strong understanding of server maintenance and operations.
    • Experience with virtual servers.
    • The ability to organize their own work to produce cost effective, and quality results.
    • Use of sound judgment when dealing with the public.
    • Proven problem solving and innovation especially as related to computer information systems.
    • Proven ability to plan effectively and to see the "big picture" where the sequence of steps is not readily apparent or straight forward.
    • Good communication skills when explaining technical issues to non-technical people.

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

    • Occasional light lifting.
    • Long periods of sitting.
    • Extensive use of computer and telephone.
    • Good lighting, temperature, and noise control.
    • A normal working day consists of a maximum of 7.5 hours; however, occasional extended hours may be required.
