The
Laboratory Coordinator/Customer Service associate is accountable to the Laboratory Manager for all activities related to this position. This role is critical to the efficient and seamless running of the day-to-day operation of Canadian Analytical Laboratories.


Job Summary:


  • Responsible for sample flow though out the laboratory and managing and communicating to the customer for all samples.
  • Responsible for the receipt and login of customers' samples in an efficient, timely manner in strict compliance to the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Health and Safety policies.
  • Ensuring samples are logged into the system and defined according to the clients' specifications.
  • Employs proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mixup and cross contamination between samples and other materials
  • Responsible for complete custody of samples from receipt of shipment
  • Note and record on chain of custody form condition of sample containers and any other unusual conditions.
  • Responsible for subcontract samples for network and/or external labs
  • Management of sample storage.
  • Ordering of office supplies
  • Interpret client's requests and determine proper test methods for samples
  • Log samples into system accurately
  • Revises existing projects on the system as requested by the lab. Notifies appropriate parties of changes
  • Inform the Lab when incoming samples do not conform to sample acceptance criteria defined in the SOP
  • Greets clients and assists them in completing the necessary paperwork
  • Answer phone calls by responding to inquiries or directing to appropriate persons.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment in the sample reception area

Minimum Requirements:


  • Diploma or degree in the scientific field or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic administrative tasks: data entry; photocopying; scanning etc.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent administrative skills and multitasking skills that help meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Competency in clearly and fluently expressing concepts and ideas in English, orally and in writing
