The Opportunity
The City of St. Albert's Recreation and Parks Department is seeking to fill a term Community Recreation Coordinator position.

The position will be responsible for providing ongoing liaison with not-for-profit recreation organizations, service clubs and community organizations to support and respond to their leadership, program development, capital development projects, grant support, facility, and organizational needs.

This includes assisting in the long-term sustainability of groups in planning programs and events.

This position has the responsibility for tactical actions resulting from strategic and business plans for the business unit. Implements protocols relating to relevant branch strategies and progression of those documents.

Continuously striving for improvement by monitoring and analyzing services to determine the optimal service delivery for the community, balancing customer service and fiscal responsibility.

The Community Recreation Coordinator represents the City of St. Albert and therefore is required to provide professional, transparent, and timely communications and information.

This position is responsible for direct contact with not-for-profit sector representing recreation and parks organizations.

Serving as the prime point of contact for these organizations, this position is responsible to manage their needs and requests of the city within aligned processes and navigate complex and political conversations and escalate those as required.

The individual we seek will be an excellent written and verbal communicator who will thrive in an environment that requires public consultation and presentations, report writing and regular communication to the community.

The position demands someone who is organized, adaptable, and diplomatic, with solid decision making and problem-solving abilities.


Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field and three (3) years experience, in the field of community recreation, which includes demonstrated competency in program development, organization development, facility project/process management, and financial management concepts and techniques.
  • A proven record of establishing and maintaining relationships with community groups and other stakeholders.
  • A Class 5 driver's license and personal vehicle are required for this role.
Hours of Work

You will work a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks).

This position will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate meetings or events.

Compensation
$79,053 - $97,296 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive flexible benefit package.
