_This posting is for multiple seasonal full-time hourly positions for up to 4 months (May to August). _
Public Works Labourers will assist the Transportation Engineering and Operations department during the 2024 summer season.

Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of tasks as assigned on a daytoday basis, such as routine clean up, fencing, painting, flag person duties, loading vehicles, road patching, brush removal, vehicle and shop cleanup, and sign erection and repair
Promote a safe work environment through commitment to department and corporate OHS objectives
Work closely with team throughout the season to complete site maintenance requirements
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

Some related work experience is required; previous construction experience preferred
Experience operating small equipment is an asset
Previous related municipal experience is an asset
Ability to communicate and interact in a positive manner with supervisors, coworkers, and residents
Able to follow written and verbal directions, and to maintain concentration and alertness for extended periods of time
Knowledge of occupational health and safety guidelines and regulations
General understanding of the care, servicing and operation of tools and equipment
Willingness and ability to work in inclement weather and remote rural areas

Conditions of Employment

Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's licence and submission of a 5year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits
Ability and willingness to perform various types of physical labour including moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50lbs/23kg), standing, bending, shoveling, etc.
Working outside in inclement weather
