_This posting is for multiple seasonal full-time hourly positions for up to 4 months (May to August). _
Public Works Labourers will assist the Transportation Engineering and Operations department during the 2024 summer season.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform a variety of tasks as assigned on a daytoday basis, such as routine clean up, fencing, painting, flag person duties, loading vehicles, road patching, brush removal, vehicle and shop cleanup, and sign erection and repair
  • Promote a safe work environment through commitment to department and corporate OHS objectives
  • Work closely with team throughout the season to complete site maintenance requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Some related work experience is required; previous construction experience preferred
  • Experience operating small equipment is an asset
  • Previous related municipal experience is an asset
  • Ability to communicate and interact in a positive manner with supervisors, coworkers, and residents
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions, and to maintain concentration and alertness for extended periods of time
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety guidelines and regulations
  • General understanding of the care, servicing and operation of tools and equipment
  • Willingness and ability to work in inclement weather and remote rural areas

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's licence and submission of a 5year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Ability and willingness to perform various types of physical labour including moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50lbs/23kg), standing, bending, shoveling, etc.
  • Working outside in inclement weather
