The Manager, Academic Quality Assurance (AQA) contributes to the academic quality and success of programs at Durham College by coordinating, implementing and overseeing the internal and external review and renewal processes of programs.

Working under the direction of the Associate Dean, Teaching, Learning and Program Quality in the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Manager, AQA, provides operational leadership and support for the development and implementation of college-wide program quality assurance initiatives, promoting continuous, evidence-informed improvement across the program lifespan.


The incumbent collaborates with academic administrative and faculty teams to coordinate and complete academic quality assurance processes, including annual and comprehensive program reviews, program changes and program standard consultations and reviews.

They are responsible for leading program reflections, data analyses, and curriculum assessments to complete gap analyses and develop meaningful and achievable action plans for program improvement.

They develop and deliver workshops and seminars related to quality assurance activities, further strengthening institutional quality awareness and competency within the academic community.


The Manager, AQA, ensures programs are in alignment with the college Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA) and the Strategic and Academic Plans, and remain compliant with institutional policies and procedures, the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) qualifications framework and industry requirements.

They liaise with external bodies such as the Credential Validation Service (CVS), the Postsecondary Education Quality Assurance Board (PEQAB) and MCU to submit and track program modifications, standard reviews and suspensions and/or cancelations.

They are responsible for communicating progress and results back to program teams and relevant internal stakeholders.


The incumbent develops, tracks and disseminates the five-year program review roster in alignment with the Academic Program Review and Renewal - Quality Assurance policy.

They communicate program suspensions from the Office of the Registrar and MCU to program teams and relevant stakeholders, ensuring appropriate documentation is entered and maintained within DC's Program Learning Outcome Repository (PLOR).

They review program change requests, ensuring that the Program Change policy and procedure and MCU requirements are adhered to, and present them to the relevant internal committee(s) for review and VPA for approval.

They communicate and coordinate approved changes to the program administrators, Office of the Registrar and other institutional stakeholders.


Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in education, Project Management or related field of study;
  • Five years of experience in academic or related quality assurance;
  • Experience working with government academic bodies: MCU, CVS and PEQAB are considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Qualifications Framework (OCF) and Minister's Binding Policy Directives for Postsecondary Education;
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading and English language communication skills;
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and project management skills;
  • Knowledge and experience in postsecondary curriculum design and instructional practices;
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, diplomacy and tact;
  • Experience and comfort in leading and working with diverse groups of stakeholders;
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills;
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills;
  • Selfdirected, task oriented and resourceful;
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data interpretation/visualization.

Required Skills:

Salary Range - $73,402 - $91,752
