DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Machine Operator are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

Operate all machines in the department in an effective and cost-efficient manner while maintaining good quality and safety standards
Check samples periodically and ensure they match the first piece sample check
Ensure the first piece sample is double checked by other plant personnel
Ensure material is identified for shape number, work order number, and quantity. If material is being used from stock, have the stock number identified on the work order
Ensure material is checked for proper cut length
Report any equipment malfunction.
Ensure ontime order completion
Comply with all quality related policies, procedures, and system requirements
Perform the required preventative maintenance checks daily
Ensure proper handling of material
Ensure samples are properly labelled and kept together for traceability while following 5s procedures
Provide feedback to supervisors on shapes which produce a poor yield and resolve any issues and discrepancies
Use material handling systems properly to avoid damage to product
Responsible for cleanliness and maintaining good housekeeping for the machining area throughout the shift, and ensure the condition of the machinery for any issues or mechanical problems prior to machining
Adhere to work order instructions for specific customer requirements
Participate in shift handovers and communicate any issues, priorities, etc. so that the following machine operator is setup for success
Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Grade 12 would be an asset with a technical and/or mechanical aptitude
Minimum of 12 years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment
Experience working on a saw is an asset
Experience working in an extrusion environment is an asset

Technical Skills/Competence

Must be familiar with precision measuring instruments and have the ability to read drawings
Willing to be trained
Must have an understanding of measurements, tolerances, and basic math comprehension
Must be able to lift
