Position Overview

  • Our Corporate Services department is currently seeking a dynamic Records Management and Privacy Advisor to join their team. In this key senior position, you will utilize your strong technical skills to provide administrative assistance to the Municipal Clerk and Council and ensure requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act are met organizationally. You will administer the District's Corporate Records Management Program, supervises a small team of staff, and utilize knowledge of best practices to develop and implement new processes and procedures for the Clerks' Department.

In this position you will also:

  • Conduct audits to ensure organizational compliance with legislation; identify, investigate, and report on privacy breaches in the District (this includes any required contact with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC))
  • Liaise with business, media and private citizens with respect to the request of records under the Act
  • Conduct and/or supervise all disclosure of records under FOIPPA along with court ordered disclosure; process complaints and appeals related to requests received by the District under FOIPPA.
  • Conduct, review and approve Privacy Impact Assessments on current and proposed programs and technology; including development of Information Sharing Agreements when appropriate
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct privacy and records training for District staff including modified training for specific sections, groups or individuals
  • Have indepth knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • Are experienced in administering a Records Management program
  • Possess considerable knowledge of municipal regulations, bylaws, policies, procedures, and functions.
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of other employees, students, ministry officials, community groups, and the general public
  • Possess exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
  • Are able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and interpret legislation and legal language
  • Build cohesive and high performing team utilizing an inclusive and motivating style

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a postsecondary program of approximately three years with emphasis on Business or Local Government Administration and Records Management.
