We currently have an opening in our Bookkeeping Department for an experienced Law Firm Bookkeeper.

  • University/College degree/diploma in Accounting, Business, or similar programs.
  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in a Law Firm bookkeeping position is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Experience with legal accounting software would be an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Confident and dependable, with strong work ethics and initiative.
We are looking for someone with the ability to thrive in a successful law practice.

We need someone who is a great self-starter, who is able to work independently and most importantly, we are looking for someone with a keen and attention to detail.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

Manage all aspects of the Bookkeeping Department in a mid-sized law firm, processing transactions for all areas including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expense Reports and Client Billing and Trust.


  • Manage vendor banking details in online banking, and process invoices for payment.
  • Liaise with vendors and deal with all vendor enquiries.
  • Responsible for voided cheques and stoppayments.
  • Staledated general and trust cheque followup.
  • Preparing and processing all client billings, including Processing accounts for final review and esignature by lawyers
  • Finalizing and cancelling invoices
  • Processing partial credit notes and bill cancellations
  • Entering invoices into client's ebilling system
  • Answering all incoming billing related inquiries from lawyers or assistants.
  • Post and process payment for accounts payables, expense reports, client disbursements.
  • Perform bookkeeping work and resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
  • Processing of bank deposits and receipts, and issue refunds for overpayments.
  • All bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with various special projects and accounting department initiatives.
  • Completing a variety of miscellaneous billing duties including writeoffs and transfers of work in progress (WIP), revaluing WIP due to currency fluctuations, setting up special rates on files and revaluing WIP, and updating timekeeper billing rates and revaluing WIP as necessary
  • Assisting with the yearend audit as required
  • Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Filing and maintaining accounting files.
  • Supervising/mentoring junior bookkeeping department staff.
  • Other accounting duties as required.
