    Job Description and Responsibilities

    EVRAZ North America is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their North American team. The Payroll Manager implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll including salaries, benefits, bonuses, garnishments, taxes and other items, as well as ensuring that payroll is in compliance with government regulations for the US and Canada. This role can be based out of Calgary or Regina.

    • Implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll including salaries, benefits, bonuses, garnishments, taxes and other items
    • Accountable for payroll compliance and government regulation requirements
    • Responsible for third party payroll vendor relationships
    • Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations and other details for finance/accounting
    • Prepare and distribute reports for management
    • Provides leadership, development and direction for the payroll team
    • Responsible for quarterly and end of year processing
    • Partners with site HR and the Total Rewards Team
    • Responsible for retro calculations, along with payroll completion/settlement
    • Accountable for continuous improvement, trouble shooting and projects

    Requirements

    • Experience with Workday Payroll (5+ years) is a must have, Kronos experience an asset
    • 8+ years of progressive responsibility in payroll with US and Canadian experience
    • 3+ years of payroll leadership experience
    • Strong knowledge of regulations related to payroll processing, payroll taxes, garnishments and other compliance issues
    • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, troubleshooting and continuous improvement skills
    • Strong communication skills to communicate clearly and listen carefully in an open candid and consistent manner
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
    • Customer service focused, collaborative, flexible, agile, responsible and team orientated
    • Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
    • Ability to work in a hybrid setting preferred
