We are currently hiring for a Manager, Community Impact & ESG.


The role of the Manager, Community Impact & ESG is to identify community impact and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues pertinent to the credit union sector; provide policy advice, industry expertise and support to advance credit unions' distinct social, environmental and economic impact to enhance the profile, image and reputation of credit unions to government, legislative and other stakeholders; drive credit union consensus on sector positions and create and execute related plans of action; and facilitate collaborations between credit unions, financial sector regulators, government entities, Crown corporations, other industry associations and private corporations in areas of common objectives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliverable and Main Supporting Activities


  • Identify & Monitor Community Impact, Financial Literacy, Climate Risk and other ESG Policy Issues
Ensure that all relevant policy issues are identified and properly communicated with relevant stakeholders.

  • Monitor regulatory and government activity that could impact credit unions. Research and read relevant publications for proposed and new legislation, regulation, proclamations and amendments, etc.
  • Synthesize and communicate these policy issues in a clear and easytounderstand format not only to credit union staff but also regulators, government and members of Parliament the format could vary between written papers, oneonone or facetoface meetings or PowerPoint presentations to groups of people.
  • Investigate and coordinate information from various sources within the credit union sector and externally to respond to government consultations.
  • Consult credit union sector and external stakeholders on key public policy and ESG issues and initiatives including matters relating to community impact, financial literacy and climate risk.
  • Coordinate CCUA's involvement in research and evaluation projects regarding community impact and ESG.
  • Prepare a range of materials such as briefing notes, correspondence, reports, presentations and packages, requested by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and support to external partners on studies.
  • Develop survey design, track and collate responses to generate publications (e.g., Community Impact Reports or ESG reports). 2. Generate Responses & Action Plans
Drive consensus on policy issues and formulate action plans to address them.

  • Research implications of relevant proposed and actual legislative changes in order to develop recommendations and determine direction of resulting action plans.
  • Forecast the expected impact of relevant policy changes and evaluate the benefits and costs.
  • Consult with and interact with credit union members to gain insights and guidance on how to address policy issues.
  • Seek out and confer with experts on specific policy topics as appropriate and/or available in order to develop and support recommendations.
  • Interpret data, synthesize and analyze results (using statistical techniques where relevant) to drive consensus during the policy development process.
  • Transforming data sets into easytounderstand, visually appealing and interactive illustrations of the impacts of implementing or amending government policy, to be used for internal and advocacy purposes.
  • Develop consultation papers, white papers, submissions, etc. to outline issues and to promote and advocate for credit union sector interests. 3. Originate & Lead Research Projects
Identify issues of interest to credit union members and author research papers to educate members.

  • Discuss with stakeholders what issues they are interested in learning more about.
  • Research and aggregate information on the identified topic(s) and provide analysis and recommended actions to be taken by credit unions.
  • Reach out to relevant contacts to gain expert opinions on the topic.
  • Distribute and discuss results with interested parties. 4. Communications and Marketing Support


Collaborate with Communications and Marketing, to coordinate activities and resources aimed at raising awareness/knowledge of, profiling and promoting community impact and ESG initiatives.
