The Vice President, Operations (VP Ops) is the top leadership role for Operations at Spirit of Math reporting directly to the CEO.

This position has full accountability for all aspects of ongoing business operations, including Spirit of Math, Spirit of English and Spirit of Technology campus operations
(online and in-person), contests, franchising and other operational needs as they are developed. All operations employees report within a chain of command that is accountable to the Vice President, Operations. The Vice President, Operations, oversees and directs all general operations to include financials, sales, marketing, logistics, operations, planning, budgeting, operational development, bidding, purchasing, project management, office management, collections, recruiting, personnel development, safety, and all other general business activities. The Vice President, Operations is also responsible for implementing all strategic initiatives for the business in conjunction with the sales, research and development and operational staff.


Responsibilities:


  • The Vice President, Operations, will be required to participate in weekly and monthly scheduled meetings as needed to generate reporting, oversee and analyze all business operations and effectively communicate that data with the necessary team members.
  • Ensures that staff and the CEO have essential, accurate and uptodate information.
  • Creates a standard process of communication with the CEO on all major initiatives (budget, HR, sales, operations, capital expenditure, etc.) and coordinates regular calls or meeting to discuss.
  • With key stakeholders, defines organizational success and communicates to all employees and managers of the operations departments.
  • Stays abreast of current industry trends and anticipates the future impact discusses with the CEO suggested changes to strategy if warranted
  • Creates annual operating plans that support the strategic direction set by the CEO and correlate with annual operating budgets.
  • Submits annual plans (strategic, budget, Cap Ex, etc.) to the CEO for approval.
  • Collaborates with the CEO to define and articulate the organization's vision and to develop strategies for achieving success.
  • Develops and monitors strategies for meeting longterm financial goals.
  • Develops future leadership within the organization.
  • Oversees all operations of the organization and ensures they are operating on strategy and according to plan.
  • Creates and maintains procedures for implementing strategic and/or operating plans approved by the CEO and subsequently monitors for performance/compliance.
  • Collects and analyzes evaluation information that measures the success of the operations. refines or changes operating plans in response.
  • Motivates employees to stay on strategy at all times and not get distracted by noncore opportunities.
  • Promotes a culture that reflects the organization's values, encourages excellent performance, and rewards productivity.
  • Ensures that the management team and employees have the resources necessary to do their job at peak performance.
  • Defines the roles and responsibilities for all operations management.
  • Clearly defines monthly, quarterly, and annual expectations of managers and creates a mechanism or process to evaluate individual and division performance on a regular basis.
  • Performs regular risk analyses on the business operations and develops contingency plans.
  • Ensures that all legal and regulatory documents for operations are organized, accurate and current.
  • Manages the company's compliance with all legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all licenses, permits, etc. are current.
  • Oversees the insurance agents to ensure the company has sufficient coverage at all times.
  • Creates and manages a corporate calendar.
  • Ensures there is appropriate, independent legal counsel that represents all shareholders of the company.

Experience and Educational Requirements:


  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Senior Leadership role
  • A degree from a recognized college or university is necessary. A Bachelor of Education degree is an asset, but it is not mandatory.
