Role:


Reporting to the Manager, Accreditation and Monitoring, the Accreditation Analyst provides a broad range of analysis and support services to the Accreditation and Monitoring team comprised of management, professional, and administrative support staff.

Specific duties and tasks are assigned by the Manager, School Accreditation, Standards and Print Services and all work is guided by Alberta Education's core values of respect, integrity, accountability, and excellence.


This position also supports project management for operations and initiatives led by the branch, including monitoring and analyzing the progress of private Early Childhood Services (ECS) programs and Alberta Accredited International Schools (AAIS), and the accreditation of new private ECS operations, independent schools, charter schools, collegiate schools, and Alberta accredited international schools.

The Accreditation Analyst performs the following tasks as a part of their role:

  • Develops briefings, Minister/Deputy Minister communications (MDM) packages and other documents in response to requests from the Deputy Minister and Executive Team, as well as conducts environmental scans, reviews research and provides analysis, speaking and briefing notes, reports, business cases, correspondence, presentations, and other communications materials as required.
  • Provides support to the accreditation team in refining workflow processes, assurance documents and filing naming conventions to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the accreditation core work. This includes working in ARTS to create and edit documents.
  • The analyst reviews and analyzes Annual Operating Plans from private ECS operators in the context of the ECS Regulation.
  • The analyst collaborates, compiles, and analyzes data collected from ministry, field and public sources; creates summaries and reports; and shares with branch staff to support operations and inform sector, division, and department strategic planning and decisionmaking.
  • Integrates and synthesizes data collected in relation to capacity of ECS operations and AAIS schools to implement provincial programs, policies, priorities, and initiatives, and ministry and school authority's progress toward achieving associated outcomes.
  • The analyst participates in project teams and provides assistance to pilots and projects focused on reviewing and evaluating private ECS and AAIS schools requirements in support of implementation of provincial programs, policies, priorities, and initiatives.
  • The analyst coordinates workflows (planning, followup, and tracking) for annual accreditation and monitoring processes and review and approval of ECS Annual Operating Plans, AAIS Education Plans, and Annual Education Results by the Accreditation and Monitoring team.

Qualifications:

University graduation in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below


Equivalency:


  • Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:


  • 2 year or more years of relevant experience is desirable
  • Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills
  • Knowledge of Accreditation Management policies and principles.
  • Knowledge of approaches for stakeholder communications and program management
  • Knowledge of the Education Act
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, resource management, organizational and decisionmaking skills.
  • Experience in supporting business and/or government leaders through conducting escans, stakeholder consultations,
  • Knowledge of planning and project management; collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data, developing
