Description
Our company is searching for a skilled and self-motivated working shop foreman who has an attention to detail and a passion for producing quality manufactured parts.
You will be responsible for supervising, organizing and participating in the daily shop operations to ensure our company produces quality parts and tools following engineering drawings and client standards.
Skills required include an understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes, organization and planning of jobs to meet customer delivery dates, and interpersonal skills to motivate and organize shop personnel.
Additional skills required include employee training, maintaining a safe working environment, maintaining shop machines and equipment, and tracking shop related paperwork.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
- A general understanding of the complete manufacturing and fabrication processes including CNC/Manual lathes and Mills, Waterjet cutter, Welding and fabrication, EDM technology, and CMM driven QC.
- Lead employee training and collaborate with shop owner to improve Apex Machine employee training program. You will be expected to identify gaps in employee training, develop training plans and motivate employees to improve their skills.
- Read and interpret drawings to comprehend the complete job and must be able to explain jobs to ensure employees understand the work require of them.
- Speak English proficiently to give instructions to CNC/Manual machinists, welders, and contractors, as well as take instructions from shop owner. Must be able to participate in meetings involving customers and venders and represent Apex Machine in a professional manner.
- Operate at minimum a CNC/Manual Lathe or Mill to contribute to work as required.
- Knowledge on machinery setup to expedite production processes, and a passion to learn and implement process improvements to existing systems.
- The skills to measure and verify all calculations prior to setting up the machinery, and verify measurements meet drawing specifications
- Supervise and organize the shop's routine maintenance of machinery and participate as required.
- Supervise and oversee the safe operation of shop equipment. Should dangers be identified the shop foreman is required to develop and implement safety training as well as the modification of shop equipment, processes and documentation.
- Follow the machining process from the very beginning to the end to ensure delivery of the highest quality parts on time to the customer
- Isolate any product that does not conform to the standards of the work order and ensure employees fill out appropriate quality control documentation
- Troubleshoot machining problems during manufacturing and find solutions.
- Create appropriate labor and time reports and ensure these reports are filled out by shop employees
- Contribute to the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the shop
- Maintain professional and ethical behavior towards staff, customers, and vendors.
Salary will be negotiated based on skills and experience.
