    Evaluation Consultant - Kamloops, Canada - Thompson Rivers University

    DUTIES

    The Evaluation Consultant is responsible for and manages internal and external institutional evaluation. The Evaluation Consultant manages internal evaluation, support and reporting processes, leading the technical implementation of student course evaluation, overseeing institutional survey participation and management of internal assessment tools. Internally, the Evaluation Consultant works collaboratively with relevant stakeholders. The Evaluation Consultant is the primary contact for external survey projects, and represents TRU at system level committees.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • As system administration lead, makes decisions about timelines, milestones, resource requirements, deliverables and effort estimation for tasks and coordinates changes in a given course evaluation period
    • Manages the strategic direction in the technical implementation and workflow of course evaluation, and its reporting including the planning and refining of processes and procedures, anticipation of problem areas, analysis of resources, assessment of short and long-term goals, and consultation with and delivery of recommendations to key academic administrators
    • Direct supervision of Research Associates and/or Learning Analysts
    • Liaises with related system vendors and internal technology staff regarding system issues, upgrades, and customization, and establishes system priorities as per stakeholder needs
    • Regularly advises all internal stakeholders and monitors analytics on the current functioning of student course evaluations, while managing the online system
    • The incumbent works with CELT, the Provost Office, Registrar's Office, and TRU World to communicate with Faculty/School representatives for the implementation, collection, review, verification, and organization of course evaluation information and advice on the course evaluation planning process
    • Manages and monitors course evaluation tool user requirements and user experience; works with stakeholders to support incoming Faculty, School, and departmental implementation processes
    • Oversees and monitors the collection, analysis, and dissemination of course evaluation data
    • Oversees administrative performance review evaluations at the request of the senior executive
    • Provides supervision/leadership and training to IPE staff on procedures, reporting and technology, including performance evaluation

    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

    • University degree in a related field, master's degree preferred
    • Minimum three years related experience, including a minimum of two years of experience in evaluation systems administration, technical support or planning
    • Experience managing student course evaluations
    • Knowledge of assessment and course evaluations
    • Excellent online systems administration skills
    • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, teamwork, and mentorship skills
    • Excellent project management, analytical reasoning, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise mature judgment, diplomacy and discretion
    • Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures
    • Ability to maintain attention to detail
    • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Ability to exercise considerable independent action
    • Effective communication skills; both written and oral and the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds
    • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others
    • The appropriate interpersonal skills to work strategically and cooperatively with others at all levels of the organization and with external partners
    • Strong diplomatic, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
    • Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to set realistic goals and time lines and work independently to achieve these
