The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club ("the Club") is the city's premier racquets, fitness, and social Club.

Located just a few minutes from downtown, the Club offers exceptional tennis, badminton, squash, fitness and aquatics programming for over 4,000 members, along with a variety of social events with upscale-casual dining in 3 restaurants.

We are looking for a Full-time
Maintenance Technician to join our team


ABOUT THE POSITION

As part of the Maintenance Team, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general repairs and maintenance of all equipment in the building, maintaining all sports facilities (Squash, Tennis, Badminton, and Pool), upkeep of the building/grounds and Fire Safety Training.

Great entry level position into the Engineering arena.


Wage:
$ $25.00 per hour


The main duties include:

  • Maintenance and operation of pools and related equipment
  • Operate, repair and maintain all equipment and machinery such as but not limited to sweepers, mowers, HVAC, refrigeration units etc.
  • Preparation and maintenance of all sports facilities areas
  • General plumbing work, including unclogging drains, replacing faucets, sinks and toilets
  • Replace and maintain lighting throughout the Club
  • Assist with minor electrical work including motors, switches and outlets
  • Maintain outside grounds (remove snow, ice, and debris, spray and remove weeds, clean gutters, rack and sweep leaves etc).
  • Perform preventive maintenance work and technical work orders for all aspects of the Club
  • Responds to requests for service by our members and management including repair and replacement of interior fixtures and furnishings
  • Take part in monitoring the operation of the Club as it relates to maintenance and correcting/advising of potential problems
  • Assist with coordinating fire safety equipment and inspections
  • Participate in the Club's Occupational Health and Safety Committee

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:


  • 1 to 2 years maintenance experience
  • Postsecondary education or trade certification a must
  • Familiar with common plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and kitchen production equipment
  • Some knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs
  • Experience with pool systems and chemicals an asset
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety standards
  • Knowledge of WHMIS a need
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal
  • Some problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and respond with a sense of urgency

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Various indoor and outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in small areas and at heights
  • Must have work authorization for Canada at the time of applying
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings and statutory holidays
